Rules for Yard Sign Contest

  1. Make a “home-made” yard sign, find a good location for it and post it.  If you are putting it somewhere other than your property, be sure to have permission from the landowner.  Post it in a legal public right-away if permitted by local jurisdiction (ask at City Hall).

  1. The words “Paid for by Parents and Teachers for Bob Schaffer” must appear somewhere on the sign.  Recommended is writing these words with a marker or pen in the lower right corner of at least one side of the sign.  This disclaimer statement does not have to be visible from the street as long as the words are at least legible up close.  You can also click on the “disclaimer” link, print a copy, cut it out and glue or tape it to your sign.

  1. The sign should be at least 24” x 48” but may be as large as the imagination allows.  The sign can be made out of a full 4’ X 8’ sheet of plywood, fabric banner, large plastic panels, cardboard, etc.  You could even paint a sign as big as the side of a barn if you had permission from the barn owner.

  1. Take a digital photo for emailing to team@BobSchaffer.org.  A film/developed photo or hand-drawn description of the sign can be mailed to Bob Schaffer for Schools, P.O. Box 284, Greeley, CO 80632.  Include your name, address, phone number, email address, confirmation that the disclaimer appears on the sign, the date the sign went up, and address of where it is located. Describe the dimensions of the sign and estimated cost of materials.  Your estimated cost will be recorded by the campaign as an “in-kind” contribution to the campaign.

  1. Signs must remain posted through the election.  Winning signs will be verified by campaign volunteers who will drive past the sign locations through the campaign to verify their postings.

  1. We recommend that all signs be positive.  This campaign frowns on negative advertising.  As an educational experience, try to present a positive persuasive message.  This should not be difficult due to Bob Schaffer’s wide array of experience and expertise.

  1. Tell your friends! We’d like to have signs entered from every area of the 4th Congressional District. What a great educational experience!
